We believe that Grid computing is at a fundamental juncture in its development. The first wave of grid adoption was centered in the high performance computing space, utilizing a wide range of commodity computing resources to flexibly deliver massive computing power to perform critical applications. The opportunity today exists to leverage the capabilities of the grid to service a broad class of applications which have been designed as a series of interoperating services (SOA). The componentized nature of these applications is ideally suited to exploit the power of Grid, creating transparency between the application services and the infrastructure.

We believe that it is fundamental to bring the benefits of grid technology to the mainstream market, by leveraging our grid middleware product, Fura Enterprise Edition. We wish to contribute to make the Virtual Data Center a reality, working with our customers and partner communities, so we can commercially exploit the results of our R&D efforts both in industry and academia to create a leading platform in the next generation of grid technology. We are participating in several key European Research Projects that focus on critical aspects of the next-generation grid technology, including utility computing, SLA management, QoS, semantic based application virtualization, services orchestration, and data grids.

We also believe in lowering the barriers to ease the adoption of this technology, so we have adopted an Open Source business model.
